Receptiv Advertising Services Privacy Policy

This Receptiv Advertising Services Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) describes how we collect and use information about you when you visit a website or use an application that uses our advertising services (the “Services”). For information on how we collect and use information through our website, please click here.

Our Services

Receptiv utilizes ad delivery technology provided to us by Google, publicly known as “DoubleClick DART.” This ad delivery technology is utilized to deliver targeted advertisements on behalf of Receptiv, and, on the web, utilizes cookies to personalize the ads. To learn more about Google’s advertising data collection practices, please click here.

Some of the websites of our customers, who are known as publishers, may ask people to register and provide personally identifiable information (“Personally Identifiable Information”), such as your name, email, or mailing address. None of this Personally Identifiable Information is sent to or used by Receptiv for our anonymous ad serving. Receptiv is committed to making sure that our partners provide notice and choice to all consumers.

Information We Collect

Publishers use the Services to connect you with brands and offers that may be of interest to you. When you visit the website or application of a publisher with whom we work, Receptiv may collect certain information, including that described below, in order to serve relevant advertisements and operate the Services.

For publisher websites:
We may collect the following types of information from you when you visit one of the websites of a publisher with whom we work:

  • IP address (to determine estimated location)
  • Cookie ID
  • Browser information (for example, which browser you use, certain configuration settings, version)
  • Information about the publisher’s website that you are visiting
  • Information about how you use the website, including ad placement information, engagement information, and keywords

For publisher mobile applications:
We may collect the following types of information from you when you use one of the mobile applications of a publisher with whom we work:

  • Device ad ID or other device identifier
  • Application information
  • Device information (for example, device, carrier, manufacturer, language setting, OS version)
  • Information about the publisher’s mobile application that you are using
  • Information about the approximate location of your device
  • Information about how you use the website, including ad placement information, engagement information, and keywords

How We Use and Share Your Information

We use the information we collect from you to provide advertisements that we believe may create a more relevant experience for you and may interest you. This targeting uses categories of data rather than specific information about you. For example, we may serve an advertisement based on your use of a website or application, your age range, your gender, your interests, the type of device you use, your mobile carrier or ISP, a domain, application information, or your general location (at ZIP code, city, state or country level). The advertiser will not know who you are based on the categories of information used to serve the ad.

This data is also used to predict responses to advertisements, to help determine which ads perform best and which content is most appropriate for different groups of users, and to provide aggregate reporting to advertisers and clients. This information may also be combined with information from other sources and shared with our affiliates and partners for similar use.

We may retain such information for up to two years. Aggregate reports generated from such information may be kept longer.

We may share this information with third parties who provide administrative services, as well as pursuant to a court order or to law enforcement or government officials as we deem necessary or appropriate.

Your Choices

You have certain choices to control the collection and use of information about you by us. By opting out of website or mobile device tracking, you can limit the information that is collected about you and/or how it is used.

Opt-out process for publisher websites:

For publishers with which we work, Google allows individuals to opt-out of certain interest-based advertising through its platform. You can review and modify these choices by clicking here. The Digital Advertising Alliance also maintains an opt-out page for its members here. After you opt-out, the websites you visit may still collect information about you for other purposes. You may need to separately set your preferences for each browser or device that you use. Deleting browser cookies may remove your opt-out preferences, so we recommend that you visit these sites periodically to review your opt-out settings.

Opt-out process for applications:

For mobile applications with which we work, Receptiv allows individuals to opt-out of interest-based and demographic-based advertising through your device settings. To opt-out on your device, please follow the below instructions. Note that Receptiv currently delivers interest-based and demographically targeted ads to Android and iOS applications only.

Opt-out process for Android-based mobile devices:

  1. Open the Google Settings app on your device
  2. Select Ads
  3. Set the “Opt-out of interest-based ads” slider to your desired position
  4. Optionally, you may reset the advertising identifier associated with your device

Opt-out process for iOS-based mobile devices:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Select Privacy
  3. Select Advertising
  4. Set the “Limit Ad Tracking” slider to your desired position
  5. Optionally, you may reset the advertising identifier associated with your device

Please note that opting out through a website will not limit the collection of information on mobile devices, and opting out on your mobile device will not limit the collection of information through your computer’s browser. Opting out limits the collection of data but does not eliminate it completely. Some information will still be collected about your use of websites or mobile applications after you limit tracking.

You may be aware of a proposed way to opt-out of targeted advertising called Do Not Track. Receptiv does not change the way it operates because of Do Not Track signals, whether that signal is received on a computer or on a mobile device, because there is currently no industry standard or common understanding of what Do Not Track is or what it should do. To learn more about Do Not Track, you can do at http://allaboutdnt.com.

Business Transfers

As we develop our business, we might sell all or any portion of our business or assets. In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution, or similar event, we reserve the right to include any information we have among the assets transferred to the acquiring company. We will notify you of any such event as detailed below in “Changes to Our Privacy Policy.”

Children

Receptiv does not knowingly collect Personally Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13 via the Services. Some of the publishers with which we work may use the Services as part of their child-directed websites or applications. However, we do not allow the Services to be used to create interest-based profiles based on information collected from child-directed websites or applications. Information collected through these websites or applications may be used for contextual ads, internal operations, or uses permitted by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998.

Our publishers are responsible for the data collected through their websites or applications and for ensuring their website or application complies with applicable law. Please refer to the privacy policies of the applicable website or application publisher for more information on their respective information collection practices.

If you have reason to believe that your child under the age of 13 has provided Personally Identifiable Information to Receptiv, you may contact us as described below if you would like us to delete that information from our databases and we will endeavor to fulfill your request.

This Privacy Policy only applies to the Services and not to any third party websites or applications. We suggest contacting third websites and applications directly for information on their respective privacy, security, data collection, and distribution policies.

We have reasonable security measures in place intended to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of any information collected. However, we are unable to guarantee that the security measures we take will not be penetrated or compromised or that your information will remain secure under all circumstances.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is effective as of June 22, 2015. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time, and will post prior notice of any such changes on our website. Our use of information collected prior to a material change in this Privacy Policy shall continue to be governed by the Privacy Policy that is in effect at the time the information was collected, unless you opt in to allow the information to be governed by the new policy. Please refer back to this Privacy Policy on a regular basis.
